Homemade Laundry Detergent

Chalkboard soap label!

I have been looking at recipes for homemade laundry detergent for quite some time now. After collecting all the ingredients I finally decided to make it. There are tons of recipes out there for laundry soap, and I have picked the products I wanted to add to my soap and really just made up my own recipe. I love it!
Our clothes smell very fresh and it only takes a tablespoon or two per load. I do have an HE washer so it takes less soap. If you have a regular washer, use accordingly :)

Here is the my recipe:
1 box Borax Detergent Booster (4lb 12oz)
1 box Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda (3lb 7oz )
1 box Baking Soda (large box)
2 bars Fels Naptha laundry bar soap (grated)

Grate the bar soap with a cheese grater and mix into the powders. It works best to pour a little of each item into your container and mix, then keep gradually adding. It is very hard to get it mixed evenly if you just add everything at once.
I also use the "ball of foil" method in the dryer to cut down on static electricity and let me tell you, it works! Just crumple up about a baseball size ball of foil and put it in your dryer, you can re-use this many times.

I have used a glass canister and made my own label (I had fun playing around with chalk graphics!) but you could use any container with a lid. This will last us forever and it cost less than $15.00 for all the ingredients!
Easy!

Herbal Bath Salts

Easy DIY homemade detox herbal bath salts. These are great after a work out, massage, when you are sick or you just feel like you need to detox a bit.

  • In a bowl mix:
  • 3/4 cups epsom salt - draws toxins, eases pain and muscular tension
  • 1/2 cup dead sea salt - draws toxins, eases pain, good for eczema and psoriasis
  • 1/4 cup Himalayan pink salt (if you happen to have any) - contains over 80 essential and trace minerals
  • 3 to 10 drops of essential oil of your choice - lavender, peppermint, rosemary and eucalyptus work well
  • Mix and add to hot bath water. Use the warmest water you can handle, and soak all the way up to your ears! Stay in until the water begins to cool, or about 10 to 15 minutes. Please ask your health professional if you have concerns about taking a hot bath (pregnancy, medical history of heart disease, low or high blood pressure, diabetes etc)

Homemade Coffee Creamer

Pour one can sweetened condensed milk into a container, fill that empty can with milk and add to container {wash and reuse your old coffee creamer bottle if you have one} add any sweetener and / or flavors you like {I use liquid Stevia in Peppermint flavor}, I sweeten to taste....and I like mine sweet so for this recipe I use about 40 drops of my liquid sweetener.
Close container and shake well!

Nautural Cough Remedy

Have a cough? A child with a cough? Try rubbing 4 to 6 drops of Eucalyptus oil, mixed with 2 to 3 drops of any carrier oil (grapeseed, almond, whatever you have on hand) to the soles of each foot and slip on a pair of comfy socks. This will quiet the cough and allow you to get some sleep. I use this remedy for my family with great results :
